New Jersey artist Apryl is encouraging others to claim their healing on her new single “It Was You”. Turning her trauma and pain into an harmonious bop, this rising singer is on track to have the most successful year of her music career. Coming from humble beginnings interning with Jive and BMG Records, her experience in the music industry has afforded her the opportunity to share her musical gifts with the world. I had the pleasure of chatting with Apryl to discuss her new single, plans for the future and ways she will contine self healing. Check it out below.

Who is Apryl?

Apryl is an inspirational singer/songwriter who uses her music and voice to encourage herself and others to let go, heal and grow in a positive manner.

What message are you trying to promote in your music?

I am promoting in my music that you are not defined by your past.

What does it mean to be an inspirational artist?

It means that I am the voice that encourages growth among everyone around me and eventually the world. As an inspirational artist, it is my mission to encourage people to live in their truth, and not apologize for the misfortune they may have encountered in life.

Talk about the inspiration behind your “It Was You” Single?

Being molested, encountering multiple sex assaults, and being a victim of date rape, along with growing up in household with domestic violence, created a toxic behavior that I needed to get off of me. My spiritual relationship with the higher power proved to be the foundation of healing for me, which inspired my most recent single.

Is there a music video to your single?

Absolutely! The official video for this release is actually already out and can be streamed exclusively on YouTube. View the video by clicking here.

What is it like working with your husband on production of your music?

Music has been instrumental in the relationship we have, from the very first day we met. When we had nothing, we always had music. We actually learned how to hear each other’s heart through music, sparking us to create songs together.

What can we expect next from Apryl?

Currently I am finishing up a new single, along with an album that should come at the end of this year.
